This room contains card paintings that focus on contrasting fields of color. When I look at these, I'm reminded of works by Mark Rothko and Morris Louis that, while much larger in scale, are experiments in the interaction of color. (By much larger in scale, I mean that they may be as many as eight or ten feet high, compared to a baseball card that is only a few inches in each direction.
I also like to lend a sense of motion to these cards. Often, the photography on baseball cards is done with high-speed cameras which tend to freeze the image.
